A 60-year-old woman walked into a Chinese restaurant on Broadway near Mohr Street late Friday and told workers her male companion was armed and would shoot them if they did not give them money, police reported.
Workers at the Golden Duck, 1265 Broadway, told police the incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. but was thwarted when they confronted the alleged gunman, who said he didn't have a gun and then tried to flee the restaurant.
A third suspect brandished a shovel and struck a worker with it before successfully fleeing, police said.
Police reported the arrest of Ashley Richard, 60, of Berkley Road in Williamsville.
Police did not identify the alleged gunman.
