Terry Pienta, clerk for the Town of Pendleton for the past 14 years, will retire at the end of this month.
She will be succeeded Jan. 1 by Deborah Maurer, who was elected town clerk on Nov. 7.
Pienta had spent 20 years in the banking industry when she arrived at Pendleton Town Hall in 2003, having worked for HSBC and Marine Midland Banks. She started as a teller, became a head teller, moved into bookkeeping and then sales before becoming Pendleton town clerk.
She recently turned 66 and said, “It’s time for a change. We need younger people and different ideas. I think it’s a good thing.”
