Two men were charged with assault in a scuffle that broke out early Sunday in front of a burger bar on West Chippewa Street, police reported.
The incident began inside the Soho Burger Bar at 64 W. Chippewa around 2:30 a.m. when one of the men refused to leave and slapped a Soho employee, police said.
A fight ensued and escalated to the street, where three additional people joined in, police said. Sucker punches were reported thrown and another member of the Soho staff was kicked in the face during the brawl, police said. At one point, the that assailants took metal poles used outside the bar for entry lines, and shattered the glass entry door, police reported.
Police arriving at the scene pursued the attackers, who fled south on Franklin Street.
Christian Green and Nicholas Fuoco were each charged with assault and criminal mischief, police said.
No further information on the suspects was available.
