The hoopla for the 2018 IIHF Men's World Junior Hockey Championship begins in downtown Buffalo at 3 p.m. Friday as Championship Village opens at Canalside.
The village will feature free events and places to eat and drink. Championship Headquarters, presented by Labatt Blue, will offer a large, climate-controlled tent featuring Labatt products, live music, autograph signings, and food offerings from (716) Food and Sport.
The Zippo Warming Area will have hot beverages and interactive games.
Snowzilla is a 40-foot tall toboggan slide. There will also be a hockey skills competition and Buffalo food trucks on site.
Championship Village will be open every day through the World Junior Championship with the exception of Christmas Day. A complete listing of bands and a map of the village can be found at BuffaloWorldJuniors.com.
Games begin Dec. 26, with the gold medal game scheduled for Jan. 5.
