Clint Apthorpe (Provided by New York State Police)

Troopers responding to a 911 hangup call at a home in Ashville Sunday arrested a man who they said threw a woman to the ground and twice prevented her from calling 911, state police said. The suspect, Clint Apthorpe, 44, of Ashville also allegedly destroyed a cell phone.

Apthorpe was charged with three counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation.

He was taken to the Jamestown state police barracks and arraigned in the Town of North Harmony Court and was released on his own recognizance.

Apthorpe is scheduled to return to court next month.
