TOWN OF LOCKPORT – Police were kept busy last week investigating three separate instances of bank fraud, including the theft of $4,800 from a South Transit Road man's bank account.
That victim contacted police on Tuesday after discovering the money missing from his account. An investigation is ongoing and no further details were available.
A Strauss Road woman told police that her debit card account became overdrawn after her grandson apparently made several unauthorized transactions from a location in Florida. She told investigators that she gave him her card information in August so that he could pay for a hotel room, but did not realize until last week that he had apparently used the card repeatedly to take more than $600 from the account.
A Stone Road woman who lost her debit card on Dec. 10 later noticed several unauthorized purchases totaling about $200. The account has since been closed and an investigation is continuing.
