THOMAS - Major William H. (USAF-ret.)
December 12, 2017, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died, age 85, at home in Bordentown, NJ after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Mary (ne;e Kenney), his children Mary O'Malley, Ann Danby, Eileen Russo, William J. Thomas, and Sheila Smith, his sixteen grandchildren and his three great-grandchildren. William H. Thomas was born in 1932, in Buffalo. While attending Canisius College he worked for the Buffalo Evening News; he graduated in 1954. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force in 1956. Through the Air Force he received an MBA from Michigan State University in 1966. During his career he was stationed in Texas, California, Massachusetts, Alabama, Michigan, New Jersey, the Philippines and Japan, and flew missions all over the world, from Spain to Ethiopia to Iran to Vietnam to Antarctica. After retiring from the Air Force, Thomas worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer in the Circulation Department from 1975 until 1992. He began as a district manager in Southern New Jersey, and rose to become Quality Assurance Manager for the Circulation Department, a position he held on his retirement. He met Mary Kenney at a college glee club event in 1955, and sang in choirs his whole life. Subsequent to his retirement he and his wife travelled extensively, especially to Ireland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Major Thomas' name may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Willingboro Conference, P.O, Box 356, Rancocas, NJ 08073-0356.
