Kenmore East band to debut composition by Randall Bayne

Musician and composer Randall Bayne reached out to the Kenmore East band program and its acclaimed Symphonic Winds and director Phil Aguglia to premier his new piece, "Follow the Star," at its winter concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Kenmore East High School.

The Symphonic Winds was chosen for the honor after Bayne received a recommendation and heard a clip of the group performing.

The concert also will feature the Grades 8-9 band, the Concert Band, the Honors Jazz Band and several ensembles.

Bayne is known for his song, "United Through it All," which was selected by President George W. Bush to be performed at the Pentagon during a  televised remembrance ceremony on Sept. 11, 2002.

Bayne is a winner of the Leonard Bernsteins American Young Conductor Competition and his vocal ensemble, Adoration, won the Carnegie Hall Presents competition.
