21-year-old charged with robbing Niagara gas station with loaded rifle

A 21-year-old man faces first-degree robbery and petit larceny charges after he allegedly held up a Town of Niagara gas station just after midnight today, the Niagara County sheriff's office reported.

Brandan J. Kruszka is accused of brandishing a loaded rifle and holding up the A-Plus Sunoco at 6730 Packard Road.

An employee of the gas station called 911. Sheriff's officials broadcast the description of the suspect and state troopers tracked Kruszka down on Porter Road, deputies said.

Kruszka was allegedly found with a loaded rifle and a bag of cash.

He was arraigned in Niagara Town Court and taken to jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 property bond.

Kruszka is scheduled to be back in court Jan. 8.
