Northtown's parking of vehicles at Westwood site scrutinized by town

The Amherst building commissioner has overruled his predecessor and decided Northtown Automotive does, in fact, need the permission of the town's Zoning Board of Appeals to park hundreds of vehicles on the site of the former Westwood Country Club.

Brian P. Andrzejewski is requiring Northtown Automotive Group to seek a temporary use permit from the board, which will consider the request to park 350 vehicles at its meeting Tuesday, Dec. 19. The company has for nearly three years parked overstock vehicles, on a month-to-month lease, at the property at 772 North Forest Road now owned by Mensch Capital Partners.

Andrzejewski's predecessor, Thomas Ketchum, in February 2015 gave the company permission to park the vehicles at the site. But the property's recreation conservation zoning doesn't allow for this use, as a number of residents have pointed out to the town in recent months.
