The owner of the Northtown Plaza in Amherst has filed revised plans with the town as it begins the approval process for its redevelopment of the outdoor shopping center.
WS Development proposes constructing six buildings for retailers including L.L. Bean and West Elm. It is seeking nine area variances from the town Zoning Board of Appeals, down from the 10 requested originally.
The developer is no longer requesting to build fewer storefront windows than required under town code, said WS attorney Sean Hopkins. Also, WS provided more information to support its variance requests, which include building 23 percent fewer parking spaces than required.
WS also would build 16 percent less landscaping than required, but Hopkins noted the 3045 Sheridan Drive property is now less than 2 percent green space.
The Zoning Board will consider the request Tuesday, Dec. 19.
