Person of interest in Niagara Falls homicide charged with hindering prosecution

A 24-year-old Niagara Falls man being sought by police in connection with a Dec. 5 fatal shooting on Highland Avenue is in custody on charges related to another homicide, according to authorities.

Charles Lee Walker Jr. was identified by police as a person of interest last week following the shooting death of Ladrae Walker, 26, of the Falls.

But authorities charged Walker with hindering prosecution in connection with another killing, Niagara Falls Police Superintendent Bryan DalPorto said. The hindering prosecution charge involves the Oct. 14 fatal shooting at 19th Street and Walnut Avenue of Lerowne Harris, 35, police told the Niagara Gazette.

No charges have been filed against Walker in the slaying of Walker, DalPorto said. He is due in Niagara Falls City Court on Friday morning on the hindering prosecution charge.

Denzel Lewis, 21, has been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the October homicide.
