More opposition to possible funding cuts for public colleges
I would like to applaud Diana Butsch on her letter printed in the Dec. 1 Buffalo News. I, too, disagree with predicted funding cuts for public colleges. Rather than accepting high tuitions so only the elite can afford college, we need to offer low tuition and scholarships, so that a wider diversity of students can attend. A more diverse student body will provide a wider experience for all students to learn from various cultures and be less likely to develop prejudices against the “other.” We need critical thinking and diverse ideas to solve the many perplexing problems we face in our country at this time. I truly believe this can happen if enough interested citizens are willing to vote in our coming elections.
