Dr. Bruce J. Cusenz, of Getzville, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, died Sunday in Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, after a short battle with cancer. He was 63.
Born in Rochester, he attended Hilton High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne College in Syracuse in 1976 and received his doctorate degree from the University at Buffalo Medical School in 1981.
He served his residency in general surgery at Buffalo General Hospital in 1984. After completing a residency in plastic surgery in Allentown, Pa., and Lehigh Valley, Pa., in 1986, he established a practice in Pennsylvania and returned to the Buffalo area in 1988.
Dr. Cusenz maintained offices on Maple Road in Amherst until he became ill earlier this year. He was a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
He enjoyed reading and building model ships.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, the former Linda Gramza, a registered nurse; a daughter, Jillian; two sons, Michael and Nicholas; two sisters, Patricia Simpson and Laurie; and a brother, Robert Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 200 St. Gregory Court, Amherst.
