A Buffalo police officer was injured late Tuesday while arresting an alleged drunk driver in the motorist's driveway, according to a police report.
Officer Patrick Morrow injured his left hamstring when Scott J. Surma, 42, pushed backwards into him around midnight in the driveway of Surma's Hallam Road home, according to the report.
A short time earlier, Morrow saw Surma's 2011 Range Rover drive into a snowbank at Colvin and Linden avenues. Surma then drove through two red lights, according to the report. When he got home, Surma drove over his lawn.
Surma struggled with the officer and was pepper-sprayed, according to the report. Both the officer and Surma were taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
Surma was charged with assaulting a police officer, driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, police said.
