A Kenmore man was charged Saturday by City of Tonawanda police with DWI after officers observed him running a right on red light on Main Street and laying on his horn in an attempt to pass another vehicle.
John W. Wacker, whose age was not available, was stopped on Niagara Street after officers observed him coming over the Renaissance Bridge as he attempted to pass a vehicle in front of him. Police said Wacker showed signs of intoxication. Also, police seized a plastic baggie of suspected cocaine from the floor of his vehicle. Police said numerous bottles of liquor were also found in the vehicle, including rum and whiskey.
Wacker registered a .23 BAC, police said, and was held on $250 bail.
In addition to DWI, Wacker also was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle and three traffic charges.
