Source: Jonah Javad verbally agrees to join Dallas station

WGRZ-TV (Channel 2) sports anchor Jonah Javad has verbally agreed to join WFAA-TV in Dallas, according to a source in the Texas city.

Barring a last-minute snag, Javad will be moving from the No. 53 TV market in the country to the No. 5 market and is staying inside the same television group that owns both stations, TEGNA.

The move is not unexpected. The News reported late last month that Javad was under consideration for the job, but the opening had been frozen.

Javad, who was in line to replace Adam Benigni as sports director at Channel 2 if he stayed, could not immediately be reached for comment. Benigni is becoming the co-anchor of Channel 2's "Daybreak" in January. Javad is expected to stay at Channel 2 until late February before making the move to Dallas.
