State reps discuss law creating savings for use of geothermal power

Three state representatives will be talking Monday about a new law intended to encourage the use of geothermal energy in New York State.

Assemblyman Sean Ryan and New York State Senators Robert Ortt and Patrick Gallivan will discuss the law, which allows geothermal energy systems to be included in New York’s On-Bill Recovery Financing Program. This means homeowners, small businesses and nonprofits can finance energy efficiency improvements through a charge on their utility bill, without having to pay the upfront costs.

The legislators will be joined by Bill Nowak, executive director of NY-GEO, and the event includes a demonstration of a geothermal energy system. It will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Buffalo Geothermal Heating, 2742 Clinton St., West Seneca.
