2 dogs die as camper burns in Hartland

Investigators are probing the cause of a fire that destroyed a large camper in the Town of Hartland, killing two dogs that had been locked inside.

The fire outside a Seaman Road residence was reported shortly after 6 p.m. Dec. 6. The residents told Niagara County sheriff's deputies that they returned home to find smoke coming from a field on the east side of their residence and, upon investigating, found a camper belonging to their landlord was on fire.

A crew from the Hartland Fire Company extinguished the flames and found the two dogs inside the camper.

An investigation into the incident is continuing.
