Don Paul's updated Bills game forecast: Frigid wind chills, afternoon snow

As of Saturday afternoon, here is Don Paul's look at the weather for Sunday's Bills-Colts game at New Era Field.

Tailgate forecast: Chills for the Bills ... and you. Possible slick spots from overnight and early Sunday scattered snow showers en route to the stadium. Significant, but not brutal, wind chill, chance of scattered light snow showers. 8 a.m. temperature: 28 degrees, but with wind chill feeling like 16 to 20.

Game temperature: 29 to 32 degrees. Game-time wind chill: 12 to 16 degrees.

Wind: West northwest early, at 10 to 15 mph around 8 a.m., become westerly or west southwesterly and increasing to 15 to 25 mph with stronger gusts. Will have some impact on passing/kicking game. Wind chill will become harsh at times.

Precipitation: Chance of scattered light snow showers in the morning, A band of organized lake-effect snow will develop during the afternoon very close to Orchard Park and definitely south of Orchard Park. Snow will become moderate to heavy at times within this band.

Forecast: Spotty light snow showers in the morning. Worsening wind chill by and during the game, averaging 12 to 16 degrees. Lake-effect snow developing close to the stadium in the afternoon, intensifying during the second half and after the game. High-resolution models show heaviest snow just south of Orchard Park, centered more over the Boston Hills. However, it remains quite possible this heavy band could reach Orchard Park, so be prepared for slow travel after the game, especially if you are headed south. This band will have no impact closer to or north of Buffalo. Blowing snow will cause reduced visibility, and snow will become moderate to heavy at times within the band, causing hazardous travel conditions.

What to wear: Layers of warm clothing, covering as much exposed skin as possible. Warm footwear and socks, plus gloves.
