Both drivers killed in a two-vehicle crash in Genesee County

The drivers of a tractor-trailer and a Honda Civic were both killed Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in the Town of Elba in Genesee County, according to New York State Police.

Franca C. Monachino, 45, of Hilton, NY, was traveling westbound on Lockport Road in the Honda Civic and failed to yield the right of way at the intersection to the Peterbilt tractor-trailer, being driven northbound on Route 98 by Jerry E. Tuttle, 29, of Kingley, Pa., police said.

Monachino's vehicle collided with the tractor-trailer and both vehicles went off the road, striking a utility pole and causing it to fall, police reported.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing, police reported.
