Two plead guilty in Niagara Falls gun case

A Niagara Falls woman on Thursday entered the second guilty plea in a May 10 gun possession case.

Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III set sentencing Feb. 1 for Crystal G. Martin, 37, of Welch Avenue, who admitted to attempted second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Tuesday, Thomas M. Campbell, 31, of Elmwood Avenue, Lockport, admitted to the same charge. A loaded .40-caliber handgun was found in Martin's purse after State Police stopped Campbell's vehicle.

Campbell also pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a firearm for having a loaded .22-caliber revolver when Lockport police stopped his car in a parking lot at Genesee and Waterman streets Sept. 19.

At sentencing Jan. 30, Murphy could give Campbell up to 11 years in prison, but the judge promised Martin a two-year maximum.
