Memorial wreaths in Kenmore brighten the village

Each year the Kenmore Village Improvement Society hangs 46 wreaths on lampposts along Delaware Avenue made possible by donations from community members as a memorial to loved ones and special causes, but the large wreaths are also a bright spot during the holiday season.

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, KVIS members and other volunteers prepared the wreaths for display, fluffing them up after they were brought out of storage and adding new ribbons and bows. The Kenmore Department of Public Works, which stores the wreaths, also helps to hang them.

The wreaths will be displayed until the Twelfth Night of Christmas, Jan. 6, 2018.

"We raise the funds to buy the decorations and brave all kinds of weather to place them with care," said KVIS President Melissa Foster. "We hope the decorations give joy to those passing."
