You don’t have to look too far for signs of the apocalypse these days, but when, I ask you, will enough be enough?
The numbers are in. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame voters were offered an opportunity to make their voices heard, and they took that opportunity to vote for Bon Jovi.
1.16 million times.
That's right, the New Jersey band crushed the competition among Rock Hall voters, who deemed Radiohead worthy of only a 12th place showing (176,310 votes), and left worthy nominees like the Meters, Rufus & Chaka Khan, the Cars, Judas Priest, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Kate Bush, Rage Against the Machine and LL Cool J stumbling around like over-qualified also-rans.
Each of the top 5 fan-selected bands will receive an extra ballot in the official induction tally. Results will be announced on Dec. 13. But at this point, it looks like Bon Jovi, one of the cheesiest bands in the history of American music, will be going in ahead of some major cultural contributors.
I suppose this means that Warrant and Poison can’t be too far behind….
