Applications for the state Education Department's Summer School of the Arts are being accepted, and auditions will be held around the state starting in January.
The program provides more than 400 students the opportunity to study with professionals in the visual and performing arts over four weeks in the summer. The fields include theater, ballet, modern dance, orchestral studies, choral studies, visual arts and media arts.
Students in grades eight through 12 are accepted into the program through a competitive audition and review process conducted by the artistic staff. Tuition rates are maintained at a modest level and tuition assistance is available, according to the state.
Information on auditions can be found at the state education department website.
