LIPFORD, Audrey H.

LIPFORD - Audrey H. Audrey was born August 30, 1956, the eldest daughter of Benjamin and Audrey Lipford in Buffalo, NY. She attended Williamsville North High School and graduated in 1974. She furthered her education at Syracuse University where she studied journalism and graduated in 1978. After graduation she began work first at the Amherst Bee and later in the Sports department of the Buffalo Courier Express, where she was one of the first African American women to work in this department. Following the closure of the Courier, she relocated to New York City, where she pursued her career in law. She graduated from New York Law in 1991 and began working as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens, NY. Audrey later transferred to the Manhattan department of Corrections in 1996 where she continued her career in law.She was an avid sports fan, particularly of basketball. She was a season ticket holder for the New York Liberty WNBA team, and a loyal supporter of the New York Knicks and her beloved Syracuse Orangemen. Audrey Helene Lipford age 61, of Buffalo, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 after a brief illness. Audrey is survived by her mother, Audrey P. Lipford (Benjamin); sisters Benita P. Lipford and Jacqueline E. Lipford Kraus, wife of Richard F. Kraus; niece Catherine H. Kraus; nephew Richard B. Kraus; and a host of family and friends. The wake is set for Friday, December 8 at 12:00 NOON followed by a funeral service at 1 PM at St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church 314 East Ferry Street in Buffalo, NY. Reverend Arthur L. Holloway II officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. The viewing will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday, December 7 at Thomas T. Edwards Funeral Home, INC. 995 Genesee Street, Buffalo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Western New York in Audrey's name.
