Six hurt in two-vehicle accident in Chautauqua County

Six people were hurt – two seriously – in a head-on collision between two vehicles Wednesday on Route 20 in the Town of Sheridan, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's office.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the accident about 6:43 p.m. A vehicle operated by Johnathon Eddings, 25, of Silver Creek appeared to have crossed the center line into the opposite lane of traffic and collided with a vehicle driven by Nicholas Coppola IV, 32, also of Silver Creek.

Eddings and a passenger in his vehicle, Brian Nowak, 31, of Fredonia were seriously injured, according to the Sheriff's office.

Three passengers were in Coppola's vehicle,  Faith M. Bunnell, 31, of Silver Creek, and two minor age girls whose names and ages were not released. Coppola, Bunnell and the two youths were transported by ambulance to Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk for treatment of minor injuries.

An accident reconstruction team was called to assist deputies with the investigation of the accident. Charges against Eddings were pending.
