Six attorneys from the Buffalo-based Goldberg Segalla law firm have broken away and launched their own firm, based in Manhattan.
The new firm, called Gerber Ciano Kelly Brady, says it has a total of eight offices, including one in Buffalo, and "plans immediate strategic growth in each of these locations." The Buffalo office is at 70 Niagara St., near Niagara Square.
The firm's six founders, who were partners at Goldberg Segalla, are: Daniel W. Gerber, Frank J. Ciano, William G. Kelly, Dennis J. Brady, Paul S. Devine, and John J. Jablonski. Jablonski, the managing partner, is based in Buffalo.
The Buffalo office consists of five lawyers, "with more on the way," Gerber said. The new firm has a total of 21 lawyers across its offices.
The Buffalo News reported last week that Goldberg Segalla had gone to court in a dispute with the six partners. Lawyers for Goldberg Segalla indicated in a court filing this week that they had dropped the case.
Goldberg Segalla, which has offices from Chicago to Miami, had claimed the six partners had violated its partnership agreement, but did not provide details.
