RENZI, Marie Rose

RENZI, Marie Rose

RENZI - Marie Rose It is with great sadness that the family of Marie Rose (Azzopardi) Renzi announces that, after a brave battle with cancer, Marie entered eternal rest on November 16, 2017. The daughter of the late Paul and Mary Azzopardi, Marie was born in Buffalo, New York on July 9, 1935 and was the eldest of four children. While living in Buffalo, she met and married Anthony J. Renzi, the one love of her life. After her marriage in 1963, Marie and Tony moved to Binghamton, New York where he worked for the Binghamton School District and she became a devoted wife and mother of two children. In 2012, the couple moved to Rockville, MD to spend more time with their three grandsons. Marie was a devout Christian who found great comfort and joy in the teachings of the Catholic Church. She generously volunteered her time to many Catholic charities and taught children's religious education classes at St. Thomas Aquinas Church for many years. In her spare time, Marie enjoyed a number of hobbies, including reading, music, classic movies (particularly, those starring Cary Grant) and entertaining for the Christmas Holidays. She will be remembered fondly as a loving and dedicated wife, grandmother, mother, mother-in-law, sister and friend who was adored by all who knew her. Marie is survived by her daughter, Sarah E. Renzi of New Haven, CT; her son Anthony J. Renzi, Jr., and his wife, Stephanie, of Potomac, MD; her grandsons Matthew and Nicholas Renzi of Potomac, MD, and Alexander Renzi of Houston, TX; and her sister Madeline (Azzopardi) Beaudry and her husband Michael of Wyoming, RI. Marie's husband, Tony, and her two brothers, Paul Azzopardi and David Azzopardi, all predeceased her. A memorial service and celebration of Marie's life will be held in Binghamton, New York at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. In honor of Marie's wishes there will be no calling hours and interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in her memory to Best Buddies of Maryland (www.bestbuddies.org/maryland).
