Nov. 30 – Final day of musky season in the upper Niagara River, Lake Erie and the rest of the state with the exception of the lower Niagara River and Lake Ontario. Lower river and Lake Ontario is open through Dec. 15.

Nov. 30 – Final day, regular bass season in New York. Catch-and-release season takes over with the exception of Lake Erie. New trophy rules now apply. One fish limit, minimum size 20 inches.

Dec. 2-3 – Niagara Frontier Gun Show at the event building, 11177 Main St., Clarence opening at 9 a.m. each day. Admission $5. Check out for more info.

Dec. 6 – Final day, Western Zone season for ducks, coots and mergansers.

Dec. 6 – Grand Island waterfowl blinds for goose hunters from Dec. 7-17 are available through call-ins only Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting Dec. 6. Call 773-2010 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Dec. 14 – Lake Ontario Trout and Salmon Association’s annual Christmas Party Meeting at 4-H Cornell Cooperative Extension, 4487 Lake Ave., Lockport, 7 p.m. This is a joint meeting with the Niagara County Fisheries Development Board.

Dec. 14 – Erie County Federation of Sportsmen’s Club will hold its monthly meeting at Bison City Rod and Gun, 511 Ohio St., Buffalo. Board meeting at 6:30 p.m., general meeting at 7 p.m.

Dec. 15 – Hike Down Hunters Creek Gorge. Join naturalist Mark Carra with Buffalo Audubon into the gorge at Hunters Creek County Park from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Minimum age is 13 to participate. Preregistration is required at 585-457-3228.

Dec. 16 – North Forest Rod and Gun Club 5-Stand Winter League starts, ending on Feb. 24. 50 targets weekly. Shooting takes place from 9 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Call Kevin Gaskill for more info at 628-1375.

Dec. 16 – Buckhorn Island Bird Bonanza at Buckhorn Island State Park, Grand Island from 10 a.m.-noon. Search for waterfowl along the river with state parks staff. Register by calling 549-1050.

Dec. 17 –Knox Farm Christmas Bird Count, Knox Farm State Park from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Call 549-1050 to register for the program.

Dec. 17 – Winter Wonder Photography Walk at Niagara Falls State Park from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. with a park naturalist. Call 282-5154 to register for the program.

Dec. 17 – Final day, South Area Canada goose season

Dec. 23 – Home for the Holidays Sporting Clays Shoot at North Forest Rod and Gun Club, 6257 Old Niagara Road, Lockport. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Shooting from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (last squad). This will be a 50-bird sporting clays shoot, European start. $15 fee for 50 birds, $20 for Lewis option. Call Bryan Meahl for addition information or to register at 628-6238.

Dec. 23 – 118th Annual Christmas Bird Count. Call Beaver Meadow at 585-457-3228 to register. Birders of all ages and experience levels are welcome.

Dec. 26 – Duck and goose seasons reopen in the Western Zone for ducks, West-Central and South areas for goose.
