[BN] Blitz newsletter: Bills end skid vs. Chiefs; playoff hopes still alive

The Bills played two of the worst games in franchise history on their losing streak this month, but they figured things out Sunday in Kansas City and escaped with a 16-10 win that kept their playoff chances very much alive.

The defense rebounding from a trio of pitiful performances was the key to victory, Vic Carucci wrote. The Bills disguised their coverages and confused Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith all day, leading Sean McDermott to a win over his mentor, Andy Reid.

Jerry Sullivan: Tyrod Taylor deserves better from Bills coach Sean McDermott, who would only commit to him as the starting quarterback for one more game. “One week at a time,” McDermott said.

Streak snapped, but Hauschka still money: Stephen Hauschka's NFL record field goal streak ended, but he atoned for the miss later in the Bills' win.

Cadet supplanting Tolbert: Travaris Cadet is providing a boost at running back behind LeSean McCoy, Jay Skurski wrote, and should threaten for the position when Mike Tolbert comes back from injury.

Zay is coming along: Bills rookie Zay Jones had a rough start to his career, but lately he has been "settling into the offense and who I am as a football player."
