Terrell Owens only former Bill among Pro Football Hall of Fame semifinalists

Terrell Owens is the only former Buffalo Bills player among the semifinalists for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which announced the list Tuesday night.

Despite the fact that Hall of Fame bylaws require selection of 25 semifinalists, they also allow for the semifinalist to include all ties for the 25th spot, which occurred this year with 27 total semifinalists.

This marks the third time that the wide receiver, who played for the Bills in 2009, has been a semifinalist. Owens also played for the San Francisco 49ers (1996-2003), Philadelphia Eagles (2004-05), Dallas Cowboys (2006-08), and Cincinnati Bengals (2010).

Cornerback/safety Ronde Barber, guard Steve Hutchinson, linebackers Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher, wide receiver Randy Moss and defensive end/defensive tackle Richard Seymour are first-year eligible candidates.

Safety LeRoy Butler, defensive ends Leslie O’Neal and Simeon Rice, and cornerback Everson Walls are first-time semifinalists, although they have been previously eligible for the Hall.
