A Marilla man and his mother were arrested early Sunday morning following a gunpoint robbery at a Mighty Taco on Southwestern Boulevard, Orchard Park police said.
The robbery was reported just before 2 a.m. at the Mighty Taco at 3340 Southwestern Blvd., police said. A man with a gun demanded an employee give him money from a cash drawer. The employee handed over some cash, and the gunman fled on foot, heading westbound through the parking lot, police said.
Police said the man then got into a white van, which was seen exiting the parking lot onto the eastbound side of Southwestern. Officer Ryan Myers stopped the van about a quarter mile away in front of a Delta Sonic on Orchard Park Road, and he observed that the passenger matched the description of the robber. Police said the robber's mother was the driver.
The passenger was identified as Ryan Loos, 30, of Oak Street in Marilla. He was charged with first-degree and second-degree robbery, second-degree menacing and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
The mother, Pamela Loos, 56, who shares her son's address, was charged with first- and second-degree robbery, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth-degree conspiracy.
Both were arraigned in town court. Bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond for Ryan Loos and $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond for Pamela Loos.
