Bell, 35, pleaded guilty in Niagara County Court to third-degree arson for the Nov. 8, 2016, blaze that heavily damaged the interior of the house at 605 E. High St. Bell's mother, Holly Seiler, was found dead in her second-floor bedroom after a fire there Oct. 20, 2016. That case remains under investigation.

Bell poured gasoline on the first floor of the house and lit it, Assistant District Attorney Doreen M. Hoffmann said. Bell's case was delayed for several months as he was temporarily committed to a state mental institution.

Judge Matthew J. Murphy III told Bell that he will receive a sentence of between five and 10 years in prison when he returns to court Jan. 23. He's being held without bail in the meantime.
