Youths sought for mechanics competition at WNY Farm Show

It's not too early for high school students and non-professional young adults to think about entering the mechanics competition at the Western New York Farm Show in February.

The event challenges youth to complete a course made up of various tasks that could include bolt identification, hydraulics, machining, automobile inspection, welding, torque, tractor part identification, brakes, hard wiring, fluid tests and air brakes. Advance registration is required for the High School Mechanics Competition, scheduled at 10 a.m. Feb. 2. The 18- to 21-year-old College/Real World Mechanics Competition is scheduled at 10 a.m. Feb. 3, and no pre-registration is required.

Schools and individuals interested in participating can visit, email or call 716-649-3900 Ext. 6488.

The Farm Show will take place Feb. 1-3 at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg.
