What a freakishly joyful noise conjured by Massachusetts-born power-pop/psychedelic outfit The Sun Parade. The band's latest, "Shuggy Mtn Breakdown," has been described as "heavy hippie grunge," which is hilarious, but a touch misleading – what we have here is trippy, garagey, pop-inflected rock 'n' roll of the first order. The band plays at 7 p.m. Nov. 20 in Mohawk Place (47 E. Mohawk St.). PizzaDoughtnuts, Nothing Casual and Chevron Bloom open. $5 at the door.
