Nov. 16 – Southtowns Walleye Association of WNY monthly meeting at the club house located at 5895 Southwestern Blvd., Hamburg,  7:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be taxidermist Franklin Thompson talking about how to prep your trophy for mounting.

Nov. 16 – Erie County Chapter of SCOPE monthly meeting at the Harvey D. Morin Post, 965 Center Road, West Seneca, 7 p.m.

Nov. 16 – Beaver Meadow Eagle Watch,  10 a.m.-noon on Beaver Pond with naturalist Tom Kerr. Preregistration at 585-457-3228. Cost is $5.

Nov. 16 – Lake Erie Chapter, Fly Fishers International will hold its monthly meeting at the American Legion Post No. 735 on Legion Drive, West Seneca. Fly tying from 6-7 p.m. followed by the business meeting. Guest speaker will be DEC’s Senior Aquatic Biologist James Markham talking about lake and stream surveys. Public is invited. Nov. 18 – Southern Zone regular season big game opener.

Nov. 18 – Artpark Fall Birding Hike from 9-11 a.m. with Buffalo Audubon  naturalist Tom Kerr and Buffalo-Niagara Waterkeeper staff. Preregistration required at 585-457-3228.

Nov. 18 – Gorge at Low Water Hike at Whirlpool State Park from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Register at 282-5154.

Nov. 18 – Autumn Tree ID Hike at Knox Farm State Park from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Call 549-1050 to register.

Nov. 18 – Tonawanda Turkeys – Join naturalist Tom Kerr with Buffalo Audubon for a walk through Elmlawn Memorial Park in search of the areas resident flock of birds from 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Pre-register at 585-457-3228.

Nov. 18-19 – DEC Region 9 Deer and Bear Check Station on Route 16 in Holland from noon-8 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. Drop off for Venison Donation Coalition before 6 p.m.

Nov. 19 – Deer and Bear Check Station at Cabela’s, 2003 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. All people who check animals with biologists will automatically be entered into a drawing for a $400 processing package.

Nov. 25 – Niagara River Gulls with Buffalo Audubon naturalist Tom Kerr from the New York Power Authority fishing platform in the lower Niagara River from 10 a.m.-noon. Preregistration required. Call 585-457-3228.

Nov. 25 – Firearms demonstration at North Forest Rod and Gun Club, 6257 Old Niagara Road, Lockport from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with Ashley Butcher of Lockport. Three gun manufacturers will be featured – Fabarm USA, Caesar Guerini and Syren. There many models, from moderate to high end. There is a fee for targets. Call 698-5892 for details.

Nov. 26 – Final day, Canada goose season in the West-Central Area. It will reopen Dec. 26.

Nov. 30 – Final day of musky season in the upper Niagara River, Lake Erie and the rest of the state with the exception of the lower Niagara River and Lake Ontario. Lower river and Lake Ontario is open through Dec. 15.

Nov. 30 – Final day, regular bass season in New York. Catch-and-release season takes over with the exception of Lake Erie. New trophy rules now apply. One fish limit, minimum size 20 inches.

Dec. 2-3 – Niagara Frontier Gun Show at the event building, 11177 Main St., Clarence opening at 9 a.m. each day. Admission $5. Check out www.nfgshows.com for more info.
