A resident of the Tuscarora Indian Reservation avoided jail time Monday for using an assault rifle to fire shots at vehicles on the reservation April 26.
Hawk E. Robinson, 21, of Upper Mountain Road, who pleaded guilty to first-degree reckless endangerment, was sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. to five years' probation.
Robinson used a Sturm Ruger Mini-14, a .223-caliber autoloading rifle, which is classified as an assault weapon, Niagara County Assistant District Attorney Doreen M. Hoffmann said.
No one was injured by the gunfire. Robinson risks up to seven years in state prison if he violates the terms of probation.
