A local nonprofit that works to help children in other other countries is holding a fundraising movie event on Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Screening Room in Amherst.
The theater at 880 Alberta Drive is showing the holiday favorite "Home Alone" during its Family Movie Matinee at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and include the film, pizza, popcorn and a photo with Santa Claus. There's also a basket raffle, 50/50 raffle and bake sale.
International Child Advancement, a non profit that seeks to provide education, vocational training and mentoring to orphans and disadvantaged children around the world, is hosting the event. Proceeds from the movie event primarily will support 165 orphans in Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
