A City of Tonawanda man who allegedly threatened a woman in her Buffalo home with a stick or crowbar and struck her with his fists Sunday night has been charged with assault, Buffalo police said.

Northwest District police said Christian B. Didas, 25, of the 200 block of Brookside Terrace, entered the woman's Ross Avenue home at 10:15 p.m. and began waving what appeared to be a stick or crowbar. He then allegedly broke her eyeglasses and began punching her in the face and neck. When she attempted to call 911, he grabbed the phone and threw it on the ground, according to police.

In addition to assault, Didas was charged with criminal mischief and menacing.
