Wheatfield Commons, a 55,000-square-foot senior facility offering assisted living and memory care, has opened at 3920 Forest Parkway, east of Shawnee Road in Wheatfield.
The project, owned by DePaul, a Rochester-based non-profit human services agency, includes 80 one-story units of assisted living and 34 units of memory care for patients with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
Financing for the $12.1 million project was assisted through tax-exempt bonding authority granted by the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency. The project created the equivalent of 37 full-time jobs. Both assisted living and memory care offer 24-hour staffing.
DePaul made a 30-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with the Town of Wheatfield. Payments started at $14,000 a year and rise 2 percent annually.
