Brooks is spot on when speaking of ‘biblical ethic’
Amen to David Brooks’ Nov. 1 column, “America’s biblical ethic.” How correct he is (dare I say, right) that “America’s traditional biblical ethic is still lurking somewhere in the national DNA [and that] there has to be a leader that can restore it to life.”
That leader, unfortunately, is definitely not the person now occupying the White House. The equality of every individual, as mentioned by Brooks, is fast fading. We are a nation of immigrants and as such we need our leaders to make sure that “political, moral, economic and social ideologies are rolled into one,” and that applies to all people and must not be undermined by any efforts to advance particular political views.
