It's not something that happens often in Buffalo, a championship banner raising. But the Buffalo Beauts of the National Women's Hockey League will get the chance to do just that Saturday night in HarborCenter.
The Beauts won the second Isobel Cup last season and will raise their championship banner before opening their home schedule against the Boston Pride.
The banner-raising is expected to happen around 7:50 p.m. with puck drop at 8 p.m.
The game will be a rematch of last year's Isobel Cup Final in which the Beauts defeated the Pride, 3-2, in the one-game format.
The Beauts are 1-1, winning their season opener, 3-2, at the Connecticut Whale, then dropped a 6-2 decision to the Metropolitan Riveters in Rochester.
The Pride are winless in their first two games, losing to the Riveters (4-1) and the Whale (2-1).
