The 13th annual 5K run to benefit childhood cancer research, Lindsay's Legacy, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 in Clinton Park in Tonawanda.
The run is named for Lindsay MacIver, a Tonawanda High School graduate who lost her 2 1/2 year battle with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare soft tissue cancer, in 2004 at age 21.
The event has raised more than $175,000 in its first 12 years. Proceeds benefit Courage of Carly Fund, which funds childhood cancer research and programming.
Much of the course runs through the scenic Niawanda Park, along the Niagara River, a setting often visited by MacIver.
Runners and non-runners are invited to attend a post-race party immediately following the race at the Eldredge Bicycle Club, 17 Broad St. Featured are food, drink, entertainment and raffles.
