A winter blast is forecast for Buffalo Niagara tonight, bringing gusty winds, heavy rain, snow and thunder.
Buffalo officials say the city is ready for it.
"We got salt. Equipment's ready to go. We have enough manpower on for tonight. We're going to monitor the situation and make sure that we get salt on the road," said Public Works Commissioner Steven J. Stepniak during a Thursday afternoon press conference.
"The biggest concern at this point is a quick drop in temperature," he added.
The city, which goes through about 40,000 tons of salt each year, has about bout 7,000 tons available right now, Stepniak said.
