Homeroom Announcements: Monday's big games & more

Get yourself ready for today's #PrepTalkLive action with everything you need to know about the day ahead in high school sports.

What to watch for Monday

1. Girls volleyball - Section VI Class B & C finals at Daemen College

Winners advance to Friday's regional action back at Daemen.

Class B: East Aurora (B-1) vs. Alden (B-2), 6 p.m.

The Blue Devils and Bulldogs play in a rematch of last year's final, which Alden won in a five-set thriller. East Aurora brought back every player but one from last year’s team and welcomed back Maddie McLaughlin, who missed the past two seasons due to illness. Alden continued its exceptional play even though it graduated six players from a year ago.

Class C: Eden (C-1) vs. Portville (C-2) 8 p.m.

Another rematch from last year after Portville repeated in C-2 and Eden won its 19th straight sectional title on Thursday. The Raiders have won eight state titles in a row, but this is the first playoff run for new coach Hailee Herc. The Panthers also have championship pedigree, as they won back-to-back Class D state titles in 2014 and 2015.

2. Boys soccer - Canisius vs. St. Joe's, 6 p.m.

Yesterday's inclement weather forced a postponement of the Monsignor Martin championship to Monday back at Canisius College's Demske Complex.

St. Joe’s and Canisius played two tie games during the regular season, 0-0 on Sept. 18 and 1-1 on Oct. 12.

The Crusaders have won the title the past two seasons, while the Marauders won in 2014.
