Horizon Health Services to move its headquarters from Buffalo to Amherst

Horizon Health Services has paid $3.5 million to buy an Amherst office building from Uniland Development Co. that will serve as the company's new headquarters and training center.

Horizon bought the 29,635-square-foot building and 3.7-acre property at 55 Dodge Road, off Sweet Home Road, the companies confirmed.

The single-story building, constructed in 1995, is one of two in Uniland's Sweet Home Center and it has been vacant recently, said Uniland spokeswoman Jill Pawlik.

Horizon is moving because it has outgrown its offices at 3020 Bailey Ave., Buffalo. One of the largest behavioral health organizations in the area, Horizon has 80 administrative employees who will move in spring 2018 once $1.3 million in renovations are completed at 55 Dodge.

Horizon's 650-plus employees provide inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance use treatment at 24 regional sites, said spokeswoman Christina Pearl. Horizon will reuse its former space as a clinic.
