'Bombshell' singers to perform with American Legion Band at Veterans Day concert

The American Legion Band of the Tonawandas and the American Bombshells singing group will present an evening of music honoring veterans at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Riviera Theatre, 67 Webster St., North Tonawanda.

The Veterans Day concert is billed as a "musical journey honoring veterans," featuring the 85-member American Legion Band and the American Bombshells, a trio of women singers from New York City who have entertained troops and veterans all over the world. The trio emulates the music of the Andrew Sisters, who were immensely popular during World War II and decades after.

Patriotic musical selections will include "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "God Bless the USA" and "America, the Beautiful."

A pre-concert organ performance will begin at 7 p.m. A volunteer organization founded in 1929 at Post 264 in the City of Tonawanda, the American Legion Band of the Tonawandas has won 20 awards in national competitions.
