3 students injured in Tonawanda High School parking lot crash

Three Tonawanda High School students were injured Friday afternoon when a motorist trying to cut off another vehicle crashed into a light pole in the school's parking lot, police said.

Cameron J. Shields, 16, the driver, was issued a ticket, charging him with reckless driving and having underage passengers in his vehicle while driving with a junior license, Tonawanda city police said.

Three students who were passengers suffered abrasions in the 12:21 accident, with two students transported to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Shields was not injured but his 2004 Chevrolet was heavily damaged, police said.
