Zay Jones channels Darth Vader upon scoring first NFL touchdown

Maybe all of that early criticism of Zay Jones was a bit premature.

The Bills’ rookie wide receiver, chosen in the second round out of East Carolina, had gotten off to a slow start that included key drops and miscues.

Fans began to wonder if Jones would turn out to be another poor draft pick for the Bills.

But Jones showed signs of life in Sunday’s game against Oakland, pulling in three catches for 32 yards. The rookie nearly matched that in the first half alone Thursday night against the Jets, catching four passes for 40 yards before leaving the game late in the second quarter with a knee injury.

Oh – and he scored his first professional touchdown on a route praised by color analyst Tony Romo, capping it with a Star Wars-themed celebration that quickly won the approval of fans on Twitter.

Jones entered into a lightsaber battle with fellow receiver Andre Holmes, finishing off Holmes with a Darth Vader-style choke move.

Before the end of the first half, Jones was injured when a Jets player (who was penalized) tripped him. He was helped off the field but appeared to be walking under his own power.
